HOW PEOPLE WHO ARE LIVING ABROAD, ARE FORGETTING THEIR CULTURE AND TRADITIONS?
It was discovered that the three main causes of the loss of cultural identity are immigration, industrialization, and globalization.
When people migrate to a new country, they often have to assimilate to the culture. They strive to fit in to the host culture, and then they start to lose their own culture. One of the most important aspect of that is losing your first language i.e., your Mother Tongue.
People usually tries to adapt themselves within the social environment of that country. During that phase we don’t only loose the languages but with that a group’s history, stories, medical knowledge, and more are lost, as well.
Culture is also threatened by things like climate change, war, religious discrimination, and development. When cultures vanish, the world’s cultural diversity suffers.
These include the loss of traditional practices and ways of living.

The loss of cultural practices can lead to reduced social cohesion and society-wide mental health challenges because an individual’s culture is closely linked with his/her/their sense of identity and belonging to a community.
You might have moved abroad because of the weather or the crowded/boring streets. However, if you explain to people from another country where you live, your photos or descriptions are usually met with fascination and interest. Getting this outside perspective can give you a whole new appreciation for those streets back home and the nasty weather you normally complain about. Absence makes the heart grow fonder and possibly more patriotic – especially when you’re cheering on your country even though you don’t even like (insert sport of choice here).

WHY IT’S IMPORTANT TO PRESERVE YOUR CULTURE AND LEARN MOTHER TONGUE?
The term “cultural preservation” may come up while discussing humanitarian efforts. This term refers to a variety of activities protecting and preserving ancient civilizations. Yet, to different people, culture means different things. Similarly, every human society has its cultural heritage. Culture encompasses a society’s ideals, traditions, arts, structures, and values, among other things. Or, culture is defining people’s behavioral patterns in a particular community.
Many writers, scholars and other intellectuals have speculated about how we can understand where we are going without understanding our past. On the one hand, of course we can see that cultures and people typically move forward and that’s why learning mother tongue is important. However, there is always some aspect of who we once were that lingers in the midst of that evolution. Those pieces that stay with each culture have their own history in how they have connected the community, the nature, the neighboring communities and more over generations.
The preservation of our various practices, our oral history, our ethnic heritage, food, music and so much more is important but not for only one reason. The reminder of what grounds us, the revelations of what connects us and the changes that we implement to build stronger and better communities are all reasons to preserve culture. We believe that preserving it is what allows others to experience it and experiencing it is what allows humanity to remember the things that make us all human.
